The culmination of the annual ALPA Air Safety Forum was the awards banquet, which each year highlights the hard work and achievements of the association's safety, security, and pilot assistance efforts. ALPA's top honors in each of those disciplines were presented. The banquet, held at the Washington Hilton the evening of August 9, also honored two pilot crews for their superior airmanship and quick thinking in the face of adverse flying conditions.

Under beautiful sunny skies, more than 200 pilots, families and ALPA staff attended the Association’s 9-11 ceremony honoring the fallen flight crews of the four airliners that were used in a terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. The event took place in ALPA’s 9-11 Memorial Garden erected in 2006 in Herndon, Virginia.
